Mark Hamill asks for managed expectations with Star Wars: The Force Awakens: “I’m telling you, it’s just a movie”

February 9, 2015 by admin

If there is one movie released this year that has a lot of hype to live up to, it’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not only is it the first Star Wars movie in a decade, but it’s the first film to come from Disney without any involvement from George Lucas. Since its announcement, we’ve heard from many of our readers about their concerns, hopes and excitement for the movie – but there’s a certain someone who thinks we should manage our expectations.

“Oh, my God! It’s just crazy town,” Mark Hamill told Hero Complex about the back stage security and the fear of leaks. “First of all, the security. We had problems before with people leaking stuff, but I was saying to them, ‘Is it really necessary to put on this giant robe with a hood that hangs down to your chest to go from my trailer to the soundstage?’ They said, ‘Drones.’ I said, ‘You’re kidding! Really?'”

“Believe me, it will be here before you know it,” he said to the fans who are really excited about the movie. “Forget about it, that’s my advice. Look forward to all the summer movies. I’m telling you, it’s just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed.”

Are you managing your expectations?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th 2015 and also sees returning stars Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block) Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
