During Star Wars Celebration on Friday, Mark Hamill had some very interesting comments regarding the amount of screen time for Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, mentioning that he would have introduced the classic character much earlier as well as offering up a suggestion that would have upped the emotional ante of one of the blockbuster’s most emotional moments.
Speaking to Fandango on the red carpet of Star Wars Celebration, Hamill said that by introducing Luke earlier the character and Princess Leia could have been a part of Han Solo’s death sequence, stating that “We’re too late to save him, but (are) witnesses” and that it would “carry so much emotional resonance into the next film” if he and Leia were there alongside “two characters that have known him, what, 20 minutes?”
