Matt Reeves’ The Batman to resume filming in September, new Bat-Symbol seemingly revealed

August 20, 2020 by Liam Waddington

As with almost every movie currently in production, Matt Reeves’ The Batman had to halt its production in the UK from March due to the ongoing global health.

However, according to Variety, The Batman is preparing to resume filming as soon as early September with approximately three months left in its planned shoot – wrapping up production by the end of 2020. The Batman is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2021.

The outlet is also reporting that the film crew have been building sets for the film over the past few weeks as The Batman will abandon location shooting in favour of in-studio sets.

Despite production on the latest Batman film being paused for almost half a year, Mattson Tomlin, the co-writer of The Batman, has recently confirmed the delays to the film’s schedule haven’t caused any changes to the movie.

“No. I mean, the movie is the movie, and I think that right now the plan is to just execute that vision. They were quite a ways into shooting as it was. And so it really is just how do you finish safely? How do you make sure that everybody can show up for work and then go home and all be okay?”

Meanwhile, in other news from The Batman, it seems we may have a look at the new Bat-Symbol from the reboot, with Warner Bros. trademarking the following image for use on various merchandise (just about every kind of merchandise imaginable including cork screws, gardening gloves and vases not of precious metal – bad news for those waiting on that precious metal Bat-Vase):

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
