November 22, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

With just a week to go until the US release of Poor Things, Searchlight Pictures has revealed a new trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Frankenstein-inspired black comedy fantasy.

The film stars Emma Stone as Bella Baxter, a woman who is brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist (Willem Dafoe), and tells the story of the fantastical evolution of Bella as she sets off on a whirlwind adventure with the purpose to stand for equality and liberation. Watch the new trailer below…

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Featuring in the cast of Poor Things are Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott.
