Meet Task Force M in James Gunn’s Creature Commandos trailer

July 26, 2024 by EJ Moreno

James Gunn took the opportunity at SDCC to unveil the first look at his DC Studios animated series Creature Commandos, which promises a spooky good time.

The series was first announced in January 2023, when Gunn announced his plans to relaunch DC with co-chair Peter Safran. Many were thrilled to see the filmmaker dipping into horror so early into his DC Studios run. The seven-episode series for Max, written entirely by Gunn, has a new trailer that packs quite the punch.

In what feels like an animated version of what we’ve come to know from The Suicide Squad, Creature Commandos sees horror-inspired superheroes led into battle by a returning Viola Davis, voicing Amanda Waller.

The series’ voice cast includes David Harbour, Indira Varma, Alan Tudyk, Maria Bakalova, Zoe Chao, and Steve Agee. Varma voices the Bride of Frankenstein; Harbour voices Eric Frankenstein, a version of the classic monster and love interest for the Bride; Frank Grillo plays Rick Flag Sr.; Chao plays Nina Mazursky, an amphibious scientist; Sean Gunn voices G.I. Robot, a military android; and Tudyk voices Doctor Phosphorus.

Creature Commandos is set for release this December on Max.
