Michael B. Jordan to direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair

September 11, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Michael B. Jordan has reportedly inked a deal to direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair for Amazon MGM Studios.

First reported way back in 2016 as a vehicle for the Fruitvale Station star, it now looks at though Jordan will make the film his sophomore directorial outing following the $276 million grossing success of Creed III.

Per Deadline’s report the script has been written by Iron Man 3 and The Fall Guy scribe Drew Pearce, and unlike Jordan’s previous collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, Without Remorse, The Thomas Crown Affair will release exclusively in theatres worldwide.

First made in 1968, the original starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, with McQueen playing the titular character, a bank-robber who sets out to pull off the perfect heist until he has to match wits with an insurance investigator who does whatever she can to bring him in. Die Hard director John McTiernan helmed a superb remake in 1999, which starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in the leading roles.

Jordan has just completed work on Ryan Coogler’s untitled vampire film at Warner Bros., is rumoured to be gearing up for more undead action in a sequel to I Am Legend, as-well-as donning the gloves once again for another round as Adonis Creed.
