Microsoft Flight Simulator winging its way to Xbox Series X/S this July

June 14, 2021 by Andrew Newton

At this year’s E3 Microsoft revealed that they will be bringing Microsoft Flight Simulator to the Xbox Series X/S on the 27th July.  The game will be available from day one on the Xbox Game Pass and is the first Xbox Series X/S exclusive title to make its appearance.  The developer has also announced that they will be releasing a unique expansion that ties the game in with the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick movie.

Microsoft Flight Simulator arrived on PC last year and was groundbreaking, using satellite imagery via Bing Maps to create an ultra-realistic simulation of the globe.  Yet it’s launch required a heck of a lot of processing power, pushing many computers to their limit.  Fortunately, the Series X/S with its SSD and advanced processing power will allow the next-gen consoles to handle the game at 4K.

Working in partnership with Paramount Studios, the developers have announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator will be entering the danger zone as a Top Gun themed expansion will arrive this autumn.  Going by the trailer it looks like this expansion will follow Maverick (You can see his his name on the helmet in the plane at the end) and allow players to launch and land on the flight deck of aircraft carriers.

Look out for Microsoft Flight Simulator arriving on Xbox Series X / S on 27th July.
