Mission: Impossible 7 halts production for two weeks following positive coronavirus test

June 4, 2021 by Liam Waddington

The seventh instalment in the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise has had to halt production after at least one crew member has tested positive for coronavirus.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the production will shut down for 14 days while those involved in the project self-isolate. A statement from the production reads: “We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until June 14th, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing. We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.” There is no confirmation whether this recent delay with affect the current May 27th, 2022 release date.

Mission: Impossible 7 has had a rocky production process after filming was shut down back in February 2020 just as the ongoing global health crisis was beginning to shutter productions across the globe. While in December 2020, audio surfaced online of star Tom Cruise verbally berating members of the crew who were apparently violating COVID safety procedures during filming.
