Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay and characters revealed

January 17, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a series of new trailers providing a first look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11.  As well as gameplay and character trailers, Warner has also provided a glimpse of story elements and the much loved fatalities.

Among today’s announcements for Mortal Kombat 11 was that Ronda Rousey, UFC champion, Olympic Medalist and WWE superstar, will be providing the voice for fan favourite Sonya Blade.

“I’ve been a lifelong Mortal Kombat fan, and Sonya Blade was the first kick-ass, female video game character that I related to,” said Ronda Rousey. “Now I get to voice her in Mortal Kombat 11. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the Mortal Kombat franchise that I grew up playing.”

A new fighter will be arriving in this latest installment of the long running franchise.  Named Geras, this fighter is the powerful and loyal servant of Kronika.  Alongside Geras, the roster of fighters will include Baraka, Raiden, Skarlet, Scorpion, Sonya Blade and Sub-Zero.

A brand new Story Mode arrives with Mortal Kombat 11, this narrative will feature the first female boss character, Kronika, who is the Keeper of Time and creator of existence.  With a title like that you know she is going to be a bad ass.

It’s also been announced that Mortal Kombat 11 is available to pre-order on Xbox One and PS4 with those who do receiving the in-game, playable character, Shao Kahn, and access to the beta starting 28th March.

Finally the Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition has been revealed and will feature lots of goodies, including the main game, Kombat Pack, a Scorpion mask bust, an exclusive steel case, a commemorative magnet coin and an authenticity plate.

Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled for release on 23rd April on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
