Netflix fast tracking sequel to horror comedy The Babysitter

August 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Netflix is looking to fast track a sequel to its 2017 horror comedy The Babysitter, with McG set to return to the director’s chair for the second instalment and Dan Lagana (American Vandal) penning the script.

The Babysitter saw Judah Lewis playing Cole, a young boy who is madly in love with his babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving), only to discover that she’s part of a satanic cult. Also featuring in the cast were Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne.

The original film received somewhat mixed reviews, but must have proven successful enough for Netflix in terms of viewers to warrant a second outing. As yet, there’s no word on any returning cast members, but production is reportedly looking to get underway in October so expect some official announcements soon.

The Babysitter 2 will mark McG’s third movie for Netflix, with his second – Rim of the World – premiering on the streaming service back in May.
