Netflix renews Altered Carbon for second season as Anthony Mackie joins the cast

July 27, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Netflix has announced that it has ordered a second season of Altered Carbon, Skydance Television’s acclaimed adaptation of Richard K. Morgan’s classic science fiction novels.

In addition to the new episodes, it has also been revealed that Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Infinity War) is joining the cast, and will portray the new “sleeve” of protagonist Takeshi Kovacs, replacing the first season’s lead actor Joel Kinnaman.

Altered Carbon takes place in a future where the human mind can now be digitized and downloaded into a “cortical stack” and placed into new bodies, or sleeves. It follows Kovacs, a former soldier who is brought back to life in a new sleeve centuries after his death in order to investigate the attempted murder of the world’s wealthiest man.

The first season of Altered Carbon is available now on Netflix.
