New details revealed for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

August 4, 2022 by Andrew Newton

During the latest Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company International have unveiled lots more details about the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.  Set for release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on 18th November, these latest installments in the hugely popular Pokémon series takes players to the Paldea region where they will be able to explore lakes, towering peaks, wastelands and mountain ranges with their favourite Pokémon.

The Paldea region, like many others in the Pokémon world will find lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations such as small villages and booming port towns, while wild Pokémon inhabit the numerous areas of the wilderness.  The largest city in the region is Mesagoza and here players can find either the Naranja Academy or Uva Academy (depending on version purchased).  Fortunately, finding your way around this vast region is easy thanks to the map app in the Rotom Phone.

This region features the unique Terastal Phenomenon which makes Pokémon shine and glimmer like gems.  When this phenomena occurs, a Tera Jewel appears above the Pokémon’s head and they can gain special powers that will allow players to improve their battle strategy by increasing their Pokémon’s moves.  Players will be able to Terastallize a Pokémon once per battle using a Tera Orb and will last the duration of the battle, after which they must recharge the Orb again by touching special crystals or going to a Pokémon Centre.  There are also Tera Raid Battles that allow players to team up to take on a Terastallized wild Pokémon.

As with previous Pokémon games players will be able to trade Pokémon with others around the world by using a feature called the Poké Portal.  Players will be able to either trade with a specific person or make random trades with others around the globe.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet also features different Pokémon and players will be able to catch different species depending on what game they purchase, as an example Larvitar appears in Pokémon Scarlet and Bagon appears in Pokémon Violet.  Other Pokémon making an appearance include Fidough the Puppy Pokémon, Paldean Wooper – a poison/ ground type and Cetitan the ice type whale Pokémon.  There’s also the chance to find new Legendary Pokémon, depending on the version purchased players will either find Koraidon or Miraidon.  These legendary Pokémon are extremely powerful and are able to change their forms to better suit what they’re doing.

It’s also been revealed that those who purchase Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet early will receive a special in-game Pikachu which has the unique ability of Fly.  Early purchasers can receive it by choosing Get via Internet from the Mystery Gift feature in their game, but be sure to claim before the end of February 2023.  Those who purchase the digital version of either game can receive a serial code for the Adventure Set which contains – Potion ×10, Full Heal ×5, Revive ×3, Ether ×3, Rare Candy ×1 and Nugget ×1. Finally, those who purchase BOTH versions will receive two codes (one per game) that will provide them with 100 Poké Balls.

Get ready to catch ’em all this November with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
