New Doctor Who Classic Doctors New Monsters audio dramas available now from Big Finish

January 21, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends, the latest release in the Doctor Who Classic Doctors – New Monsters range, arrives from Big Finish Productions today, bringing with it four full-cast audio adventures for the Second, Fourth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors as they meet an assortment of creatures from the post 2005 series.

Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends features four new action-packed adventures with a double bill of the Krillitane, the Lupari and the Monks.  These four new tales of adventure are:

The Krillitane Feint by John Dorney – This adventure finds the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe on a planet where a secret research base is performing experiments on a group of captured Krillitane.  Run by the military, these experiments are disturbing and the time travelling trio are soon left wondering who the real monsters are.

Michael Troughton plays the Second Doctor with Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury resuming their roles as Jamie and Zoe.  Joining them are David Carlyle, Jason Forbes, Amber Grappy and Kiziana Jean-Louis.

The Dying Breed by Tim Foley brings the Fourth Doctor, Leela and K9 to the Lupari homeworld where they find the kingdom in disarray.  The son of the Great Lord Garzan has been attacked and numerous strange beasts are roaming the frozen landscape.  What are these strange events and how are they all connected?

The legendary Tom Baker reprises his role as the Fourth Doctor, with Louise Jameson playing Leela and John Leeson as the lovable K9. Joining them are Peter Guinness, Selina Jones and George Naylor.

The Krillitane Relic by John Dorney takes the Seventh Doctor and Ray to a cryogenic storage facility, a space station where VIPs are stored ready for a medical cure to be invented.  While here, the Doctor sees a familiar face, one one that doesn’t remember him.  This second Krillitane story stars Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor and Sara Griffiths once again taking the role of Ray.  Joining them are Sheila Hancock, Colin McFarlane, George Naylor and Wendy Padbury.

Finally, Five Hundred Ways to Leave Your Lover by Tim Foley has the Eighth Doctor find a boyfriend, but what have the Monks got to do with it all?  Paul McGann stars as the Doctor in this surprising story, along with Charlie Condou as Chris, Andrew Hayden-Smith as Mark and Timothy Bentinck as the Monks.

Doctor Who – Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends is available now from the Big Finish website for £29.99 for the 4-disc Collector’s Edition and digital download, or £22.99 for the digital download only.
