New Pee-Wee Herman movie is heading to Netflix

December 23, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Paul Reubens has been doing a lot of talking about the third Pee-Wee Herman movie lately, stating that a director is in place and production is likely to begin early in the New Year.

Now The Wrap is reporting that streaming giant Netflix is nearing a deal to distribute the film, which is being produced by Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up). The project was initially set up at Universal, but it seems that is no longer the case.

Netflix has been steadily reintroducing Reubens’ character to its auidence, with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Big Top Pee-Wee, The Pee-Wee Herman Show and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse all currently available to subscribers.

The new Pee-Wee movie has been written by Reubens and comedian Paul Rust, although details of the project are a closely guarded secret at present.
