Olivia Colman and Dev Patel to headline twisted romance Wicker

October 25, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Olivia Colman (The Favorite) and Dev Patel (The Green Knight) are set to star in twisted romance Wicker.

According to Deadline Colman will play a “smelly Fisherwoman” who provokes outrage in her conservative town when she embarks on an unconventional romance.

Based on the short story The Wicker Husband by Ursula Wills-Jones, Wicker will be directed by Save Yourselves! duo Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson.

Set to go before cameras sometime next year, the official synopsis for the film reads: “On the outskirts of a village by the sea, lives a Fisherwoman (Olivia Colman); smelly, single and perpetually ridiculed. One day, fed up with her stuffy, small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband to be made from wicker (Dev Patel). In an otherwise conservative town, this unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy and chaos.”

Next up for the Academy Award winning Colman is the Timothée Chalamet-headline Wonka, while Oscar nominee Patel can currently be seen starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Netflix’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
