Olivia Munn wants Psylocke to join Deadpool in X-Force movie

May 27, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Promoting the release of X-Men: Apocalypse in an interview with USA Today, actress Olivia Munn has expressed her hope that she’ll get to reprise the role of Psylocke alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth in 20th Century Fox’s planned X-Men spinoff X-Force.

“That would be a really cool thing to do,” said Munn. “What [Reynolds] did with Deadpool was genius and I’m so excited for him. It would definitely be cool to see Deadpool and some of the other X-Men characters gather for an X-Force movie. I think that’s what the whole world is coming to — everybody unites together, right? It’s never just one character anymore. We all just become one movie.”

Fox has been developing an X-Force movie for several years now, with Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) originally attached to write the script [check out some early concept art here]. However, it looks like the project is being revamped post-Deadpool, with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick set to “have a hand” in the film, which producer Simon Kinberg has suggested could be R-rated.

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
