Orphan 3 officially on the way with Esther back to slay

November 5, 2024 by EJ Moreno

The Orphan franchise will continue with our favorite child-like killer, Esther , returning for another outing.

Variety confirms Lionsgate has officially announced Orphan 3. The outlet confirms Orphan: First Kill‘s writer David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and director William Brent Bell (The Boy franchise) will return behind the camera.

Dark Castle is excited to announce another terrifying chapter in the Orphan saga,” said Norman Golightly, Co-CEO of Dark Castle Entertainment. “With the past success of the first two movies and another thrilling storyline, we are confident Orphan 3 will be a must-see movie for both current fans of the franchise and new fans alike.”

Dark Castle is producing Orphan 3 with Alex Mace of Gnosis Films. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will also serve as an executive producer.

The first two Orphan movies, Orphan (2009) and Orphan: First Kill (2022), star Isabelle Fuhrman in the now-iconic role of Esther. Despite her appearance as a young child, Esther is not a little girl but a 33-year-old woman named Leena with murderous and sometimes scandalous intentions.

The franchise has grossed a combined $125 million worldwide to date. The latest film, released day-and-date theatrically and on Paramount+,  grossed over $45 million worldwide.
