Owen Wilson on keeping Marvel secrets and ominous texts for dropping Loki spoilers

August 19, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Anyone familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows the franchise prides itself on keeping secrets. Rarely do the projects have leaks (unless it’s involving the new Spider-Man film), and most of the details are kept tightly under wraps.

One of the newest actors in the MCU just learned about how serious the brand takes its secret-keeping as Owen Wilson opened up about an interesting moment that happened to him when he leaked something.

Wilson recently appeared in a scene-stealing role in Loki, starring as Mobius alongside Tom Hiddleston’s titular character. During a recent sit-down with Esquire, the actor dishes what happened when he let out even the most minor detail about his character.

“I let it slip I had a mustache for Mobius; I got an ominous text saying ‘Strike 1’,” says Wilson. “I don’t know who that was, we think it might have been Kevin Feige using a burner phone, but that wasn’t confirmed.”

It seems like the MCU takes everything very seriously and doesn’t want fans knowing anything before they’re ready to announce it. Not even Mobius’ mustache is safe from Feige’s harsh rules against leaks.

While fans wait for confirmation that Owen Wilson will return in season two of Loki, you can find the actor in the upcoming Wes Anderson film titled The French Dispatch. It’s set for release theatrically in the United States on October 22nd, 2021.

Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Loki is available to stream now on Disney+ and features a cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sasha Lane, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Deobia Oparei, Jack Veal, Richard E. Grant and Jonathan Majors.
