Pamela Anderson isn’t a fan of 2017’s Baywatch movie

May 24, 2020 by Gary Collinson

She may have been convinced to head back to the beach for a cameo appearance, but Baywatch icon Pamela Anderson has admitted to Andy Cohen that she wasn’t a fan of the 2017 big screen reboot led by Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

“I didn’t like it,” said Anderson bluntly when asked for her thoughts on the film. “Let’s just keep the bad TV as bad TV. That’s what’s charming about Baywatch, you know? Trying to make these movies out of television, is just messing with it. $65 million would make a good movie. We made our show for like $500,000. You have the same explosions, the same sequences of water, that’s the fun part. Being creative.”

The 2017 movie – which saw Johnson and Efron joined by the likea of Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera and Priyanka Chopra – was slammed by critics and failed to make much of a splash with audiences either, the comedy underperforming with $178 million worldwide and marking a rare box office misfire for The Rock.

Anderson joined the original Baywatch TV series in its third season, with her role as lifeguard C.J. Parker propelling her to international stardom. She hung around for 76 episodes across five seasons, before leaving to pursue her feature film ambitions, although she did reprise the role in 2003’s reunion movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.

BAYWATCH follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Zac Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.

Baywatch sees Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious 7) leading a cast that also includes Zac Efron (Dirty Grandpa), Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Kelly Rohrbach (Two and a Half Men), Priyanka Chopra (Quantico), Jon Bass (Big Tim in Hollywood, FL), Hannibal Buress (Daddy’s Home), Belinda (The Cheetah Girls 2) and Ilfenesh Hadera (Billions).
