Peter Gadiot cast as Mr. Mxyzptlk in Supergirl

January 7, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in December it was revealed that Superman’s foe Mr. Mxyzptlk would be appearing in the second season of Supergirl, and now a set photo has arrived online via Canadagraphs which reveals that Peter Gadiot (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Queen of the South) has secured the role. Here he is alongside Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel…

Mr. Mxyzptlk is one of Superman’s oldest villains, having made his first appearance way back in Superman #30 in 1944. In the comic books, he is portrayed as a trickster who enjoys tormenting the Man of Steel, and can only be defeated by saying his name backwards, which banishes him temporarily back to his own dimension. Reports have suggested that he will appear in two episodes of Supergirl’s second season.

Supergirl returns to The CW for the second half of season two from Monday, January 23rd.
