Pokémon UNITE celebrates its first anniversary with in-game events and more

July 15, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Strategic Pokémon team battle game, Pokémon UNITE, celebrates it’s first anniversary on the 21st July and TiMi Studio Group and The Pokémon Company International are marking the occasion with a wealth of updates, in-game events and much more.

Starting from 21st July and running until 13th October, players will be able to get their hands on Unite License and Holowear Log-In Bonus Gifts.  For five days during the event period players can gain one of these when they log in, if the player already owns the item they will get 100 Aeos coins for each one they own.  These log-in gifts are as follows:

Day 1: Pikachu + Fashionable Style: Pikachu
Day 2: Lucario + Concert Style: Lucario
Day 3: Blastoise + Firefighter Style: Blastoise
Day 4: Snorlax + Bedtime Style: Snorlax
Day 5: Sylveon + Checkered Style: Sylveon

From the 21st July to 2nd September players will receive frosting (icing for us British folk) just for logging in, battling and completing missions.  Collecting the frosting will enable players to complete the anniversary cake challenge and gain some useful rewards.

There’s three new Unite licenses being added to Pokémon UNITE over the coming weeks with Glaceon arriving on the 21st, Buzzwole on 3rd August and Tyranitar on the 15th August.  Though these won’t be the only licenses making their debut during the anniversary period as three more will arrive during September.

For a limited period during the celebrations, players will be able to take part in the game’s first PvE-style quick-battle event, Boss Rush.  In these, players will work together to defeat powerful Boss Pokémon that appear one after another and the higher the team score becomes, the better the rewards.  There will be three periods where players can take part in this quick event; 21st – 24th July, 31st July – 7th August, and 14th – 21st August.

A brand new feature also makes a debut, Pokémon Boost Emblems.  These emblems will be added to the list of items that can be obtained as energy rewards.  There are three grades of boost emblems: gold, silver, and bronze, and these can be used in custom loadouts and bring benefits to battles.

Between 21st July and 15th August players can take part in the Icy Glaceon Challenge and earn the Glaceon’s Unite license for completing a set of special missions.  Glaceon is an attacker Pokémon with its Glacial Stage Unite Move.  There will also be a selection of Holowear available at the start of the event.

Ranked matches for Season 5 will also be starting on Thursday 21st July with those who reach Ultra Rank receiving the reward Tuxedo Style: Decidueye.

Battle Pass Season 9 also makes a start on the 21st July and runs until 2nd September.  This season features Band Style: Pikachu Holowear and Songstress Style: Wigglytuff Holowear and includes special battle pass missions that reward players with Battle Pass Special Tickets that can be exchanged for Holowear, Trainer fashion items and other rewards at the Exchange Booth.

Pokémon UNITE’s anniversary features an Invite-a-Friend Campaign which runs from the 21st July to 12th August.  During this time players and their invited friends have the opportunity to receive a reward.  Players will receive a random box containing Holowear tickets, energy boost tanks or other rewards, while the invited will have a chance to obtain Bonfire Style: Slowbro if they win a certain number of ranked matches after using the invite code.

Finally, there’s the returning Trainer Support Event from 21st July to 5th August that will allow players to receive a variety of rewards by teaming up with friends or other players that haven’t logged on in over 14 days.

Join Pokémon UNITE in their first anniversary celebrations from the 21st July and gain some great rewards as well as having loads of fun.
