Rick and Morty’s Dan Harmon producing Strange Planet animated series for Apple TV+

June 28, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Apple TV+ is looking to expand is original animated output with a new comedy series based upon Nathan Pyle’s Strange Planet webcomics and graphic novels.

As per Deadline, Strange Planet follows “big eyed, bright blue beings from a planet that shares a lot in common with Earth. The aliens sunbathe and sneeze but describe these actions with phrases like ‘sun damage’ and ‘face fluid explosions.’”

The streamer has tapped Dan Harmon, Community creator and Rick and Morty co-creator, to executive produce the adaptation alongside Pyle. Amalia Levari (Joe Pera Talks with You) serves as showrunner, while BoJack Horseman production house ShadowMachine will handle the animation.

Apple TV+ has recently shared a trailer for the second season of its first animated series, the award-winning Central Park. Watch it here.
