Rogue One and Solo connection revealed by Solo: A Star Wars Story novel

August 23, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The novelisation of Solo: A Star Wars Story has revealed a new connection between the film and Rouge One.

Solo was filled with a bunch of fun Easter eggs and references for Star Wars fans to pick up on and enjoy, with the film making connections to the wider world of Star Wars films and canon.

One connection, however, was saved for the novelisation, with an excerpt from the book revealing what Enfys Nest did with precious fuel Coaxium once it had been retrieved. It turns out that she gave it to Rogue One’s Saw Gerrera. Here’s an excerpt courtesy of StarWars.com:

Enfys always had meetings in her full armor and mask. She didn’t own the proper clothing to meet with government officials, but her job was not diplomacy. And it was probably for the best that she hid her identity even from her allies; it wouldn’t do for them to start doubting her because of her age.

She stood, her Cloud-Riders behind her on their swoop bikes, protecting their coaxium shipment, as the Onderonean shuttle landed in front of her.

A tall, heavy, brown-skinned man wearing a long black cape exited the shuttle alone.

He actually came alone. Brave, Enfys thought.

“Saw Gerrera,” she said, her modulator disguising her soft voice.

“Enfys Nest,” he said, glowering. “I hope you have good news for me.” He sounded as if he didn’t believe she ever could.

“Refined coaxium, enough to power a fleet,” she said, gesturing behind her. “I trust you will put it to good use.”

The giving of the coaxium located in Solo to Saw certainly makes a lot of sense considering what we know of the radical rebel from his appearances in places like Rogue One, and connections like these go a great way in further building out the Star Wars canon.

What do you think of this revelation? Did Enfys make the right choice?

A new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story features Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as the famous smuggler, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Tobias Beckett, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as L3-37, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Qi’Ra, Thandie Newton (Westworld) as Val, Ian Kenny (Sing Street) as Rebolt, Harley Durst (Wonder Woman) as Moloch, Jon Favreau (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Rio Durant, Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) as Dryden Vos and Warwick Davis (Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) as Weazel.
