Rumour: A familiar face could cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

December 18, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Warning. Potential spoilers for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales follow…

Well, if rumour is to be believed, it seems that Orlando Bloom won’t be the only former star returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in next year’s fifth instalment Dead Men Tell No Tales.

According to TooFab, Keira Knightley is said to have secretly reprised the role of Elizabeth Swann for “a small cameo” in a post-credits scene, which is said to pave the way for an expanded role in a sixth entry in the series.

Should the rumour prove true, it would reunite the series’ original four stars of Bloom, Knightley, Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush for the first time since 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Still, it does beg the question, is a sixth film really necessary?

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki) and features returning stars Johnny Depp , Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham and Martin Klebba alongside new additions Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, David Wenham, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani and Paul McCartney. It is set for release on May 26th 2017.
