Rumour: Paul Rudd was offered Tommy Doyle return for Halloween Kills

August 1, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last week it was announced that The Shape is set to return for two sequels to last year’s Halloween revival, with 2020’s Halloween Kills and 2021’s Halloween Ends promising to bring to a conclusion the saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.

Original Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle are confirmed to be back for the next movie (with Castle once again sharing the role of Michael Myers with James Jude Courtney), and if a rumour from Collider is to be believed, they won’t be the only returning characters from the 1978 film to feature in the next instalment.

The site is reporting that Tommy Doyle, one of the young children Laurie was babysitting on that fateful night back in 1978 (where he was played by Brian Andrews), is set to feature in Halloween Kills.

This wouldn’t be Tommy’s first return to the franchise, as Paul Rudd portrayed the character 1995’s (no longer canon) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, and apparently director David Gordon Green offered Rudd the opportunity to reprise the role but the actor was forced to turn it down due to his commitments to Ghostbusters 2020.

The report goes on to suggest that the role of Tommy has since been filled, but their identity remains a mystery at this point.
