Rumour: The Vulture to appear in Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming

April 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Following the Sony presentation at CinemaCon, Birth.Movies.Death has popped up with a rumour about a possible villain for Sony and Marvel’s 2017 Spider-Man reboot, which is now officially going by the title of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

According to the site, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will face off against Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, although it’s unknown whether the winged villain will be the main antagonist or a supporting character.

The Vulture is one of Spider-Man’s oldest villains, having appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #2 way back in 1963. The character is yet to make an appearance in live-action, although Sam Raimi did plan to include him in the ultimately-aborted Spider-Man 4, casting John Malkovich in the role.

Is The Vulture a good choice for the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming? Which characters would you like to see appearing? Let us know in the comments below…

Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will see Tom Holland reprising the role of the wall-crawler from Captain America: Civil War alongside Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler) as Aunt May and Zendaya (K.C. Undercover) as Michelle. It is set for release on July 7th 2017.
