Scott Pilgrim vs. the World anime series coming to Netflix

January 8, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Scott Pilgrim will take on the world again. The character has been in comics, live-action films, and even video games…but now, it will be Scott Pilgrim vs. anime!

Today, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World will take on an anime adaption on Netflix. Graphic novel creator Bryan Lee O’Malley will write and executive produce the series, alongside BenDavid Grabinski. Heading the anime is anime house Science SARU, known for cult anime hits and two episodes of Star Wars: Visions.

Edgar Wright and producing partner Nira Park will serve as executive producers and Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Seigel of Marc Platt Productions, and Michael Bacall.

The graphic novel series consists of six digest size black-and-white volumes, released between August 2004 and July 2010. The graphic novels and the film followed Scott Pilgrim, a slacker and part-time musician who lives in Toronto, Ontario, and plays bass ‍in a band. He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona Flowers but must defeat her seven evil exes to date her in peace.

The original cast includes Michael Cera as Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Flowers, and a cast that included Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, and Brie Larson, among others. Fans online hope that some of the original cast will return to voice roles in this upcoming series.

At the time of writing, Netflix has yet to confirm this news.
