Scream 5 completes casting with Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner and more

September 11, 2020 by Ricky Church

Hot off the heels of Neve Campbell’s announced return as Sidney Prescott to the Scream franchise, Deadline has reported the upcoming reboot has completed casting for its principal characters.

Joining Scream 5 is Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Mason Gooding (Love, Victor), Mikey Madison (Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood), Kyle Gallner (Ghosts of War) and Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) with Marley Shelton reprising her Scream 4 role as Deputy Judy Hicks.

While plot details are still scarce, Scream 5 is said to focus on “a woman returning to her home town to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.” The film will have its production in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The new Scream will see Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (Ready or Not) tackle a script from James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The new cast additions join previously announced franchise staples Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, as well as Scream newcomers Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, and Jenna Ortega.

The fifth theatrical film in the Scream series is set for release on January 14th, 2022, which marks the franchise’s return to the holiday season window.
