SDCC: Ben Affleck officially confirmed as Batman movie director

July 23, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It’s one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, but now it’s official, as Warner Bros. kicked off its DC Films panel at the San Diego Comic-Con today by introducing Ben Affleck as director of the standalone Batman movie.

Affleck was joined on the stage by fellow DC directors David Ayer (Suicide Squad), Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), Zack Snyder (Justice League), Rick Famiyuma (The Flash) and James Wan (Aquaman).

Affleck referred to Batman as one of the greatest characters in American drama and said that directing a Dark Knight movie is like taking on a great play that has done many times before, in a way that’s never been done.

The panel is taking place at this very moment, so expect more DC news soon…
