Sega’s Altered Beast and Streets of Rage being adapted for the screen

December 5, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Stories International has announced that it has partnered with Circle of Confusion, executive producers of The Walking Dead, Powers, Outcast and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, to develop filmed adaptations of the hit Sega franchises Altered Beast and Streets of Rage, and will explore opportunities for both titles in film and television.

Stories is already developing a number of film and TV projects based upon Sega titles, including Shinobi, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi and The House of the Dead.

“These are some of the most well loved Sega games, and we are thrilled to be working with Stories to adapt them into major film and television franchises,” said Lawrence Mattis of Circle of Confusion.

“With Lawrence and his team at Circle of Confusion, we are beyond excited to work alongside them to develop and produce these projects,” added Tomoya Suzuki of Stories International. “We look forward to seeing the Centurion from Altered Beast rise from his grave, and the Streets of Rage heroes Adam, Axel and Blaze fight to take their city back on a screen near you.”
