Simon Kinberg gives an update on Deadpool 2, hoping to shoot early next year

June 25, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Even before Deadpool ever opened in cinemas, 20th Century Fox announced that development was underway on a sequel, and with the Merc with a Mouth setting the box office on fire earlier this year you can bet that Deadpool 2 is now a major priority for the studio.

As yet, we’re yet to get an official release date for the sequel, but producer Simon Kinberg has told Collider that they hope to begin filming early next year, as well as giving a brief update on the status of the script:

“The guys, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, are working on the script, and we hope to have a script very soon. I can only tell you that it’s going extremely well and that’s about all I will tell you about it. We want it to be discovered the way that we used to watch movies a long time ago when you didn’t know everything about them before you went to go see them.”

Deadpool 2 will reunite screenwriters Wernick and Reese with star Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller, while it’s also been revealed that Cable will feature alongside the Merc with a Mouth.
