Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla gets a new teaser and belated UK release date

September 5, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Coinciding with its world premiere this evening at the Venice Film Festival, MUBI has announced it has acquired the UK distribution rights to Priscilla, the upcoming biographical drama from director Sofia Coppola which tells the story of Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) through the eyes of his wife Priscilla (Cailee Spaeny).

The film – which opens in the US next month – will hit UK and Irish cinemas on Boxing Day with special 35mm previews ahead of a wide release on January 1st. Take a look at the new UK teaser below…

When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend. Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.

Priscilla is set for release on October 27th in the US and on January 1st in the UK.
