Space Jam 2 finds a new director

August 5, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

With Justin Lin (Fast & Furious, Star Trek Beyond) vacating the director’s chair, it looks like Warner Bros. has turned to Terence Nance (An Oversimplification of Her Beauty) to bring the long-gestating Space Jam 2 to the big screen.

The Wrap is reporting that Nance is currently in talks with the studio to direct the follow-up to the 1996 comedy, which saw basketball legend Michael Jordan sharing the screen with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes roster.

Space Jam 2 was first revealed back in 2014, and is being developed as a vehicle for NBA star LeBron James, while the script has been written by Andrew Dodge (Bad Words). Apparently James still needs to approve the script, and as such, Warner Bros. is yet to give the project the official green light.

Nance’s latest project, the six-episode TV series Random Acts of Flyness, premiered on HBO this past Friday.
