We’re just a little over a month away from the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, the new CBS All Access series, which is set to take place around ten years prior to The Original Series and will explore the war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.
Speaking to Digital Spy, producer Alex Kurtzman has revealed that they intend to wrap up the Klingon War in one season, and that the potential second season will explore the aftermath of the conflict.
“Each season needs to be about a different thing,” said Kurtzman. “I wouldn’t necessarily want to bring the Klingon War into season two. However, the results of the war are going to allow for a lot of new storytelling that will be the result of everything that happens and the people that are left behind; the casualties, the things that have grown in Starfleet as a result of the war. That’s what we’ll inherit in the second season.”

Kurtzman also revealed that it is entirely possible that CBS could launch more Star Trek TV shows, perhaps adding some credence to the rumour that a Wrath of Khan prequel miniseries is in development.
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
Star Trek: Discovery premieres on September 24th on CBS and on September 25th on Netflix.
