Star Trek’s Jeri Ryan talks Seven of Nine future and turning down a spinoff series

November 9, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Jeri Ryan is beloved by Star Trek fans, and while appearing at Spacecon in Texas recently, the actress was in full fan service mode, sharing some juicy details about a potential return to the franchise following her recent comeback in Star Trek: Picard.

Discussing her her iconic role as Seven of Nine, one fan in attendance asked “Has there ever been any talk of a Captain Seven show?”, with Ryan responding:

“There has been talk. And there was an idea that was actually pitched to me after Picard ended, which was not the Legacy show that I know the fans are asking for, that I want to do. But it just wasn’t me… It didn’t feel like the right kind of thing… But there has been talk. And if there is one thing I have learned with this franchise it is: never say never. You never know.”

It wasn’t long after Picard wrapped in 2023 that the idea of a follow-up spin-off began. A concept envisioned by showrunner Terry Matalas titled Star Trek: Legacy sprung up, which would have focused on the adventures of the USS Enterprise-G under the command of Captain Seven.
