Star Wars: Episode IX and Frozen 2 trailers rumoured to arrive this month

December 5, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Taking a break from all of the rumours surrounding the first trailer for Avengers 4 (and Spider-Man: Far From Home), it seems that this month may also bring us our first look at another of two of Disney’s big 2019 sequels.

According to Frosty at Collider, December is set to deliver the first trailers for Frozen 2 and Star Wars: Episode IX, which are set for release in November and December of 2019 respectively, and both are expected to be with us before Christmas Day.

to those wondering, December is ALWAYS a huge month for new trailers. If you're a Disney fan, you can look forward to the first footage from #Frozen2 and @starwars episode 9 this month. Would be shocked if both aren't revealed by December 25th. pic.twitter.com/mylWXs6vyq

While it might seem a little early for Disney to be launching the marketing campaign for these two films, it certainly wouldn’t be without precedent. After all, the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted more than twelve months out from the film’s release, and with Star Wars sitting out this December after a tough year that saw The Last Jedi dividing fans and Solo: A Star Wars Story tanking, perhaps Disney and Lucasfilm will be keen to get the promotional ball rolling for what is said to be viewed as a “course correction” for the saga.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set for release on December 20th 2019 with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Mabeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Keri Russell (The Americans).
