Star Wars: Episode IX gets a new screenwriter

August 2, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Star Wars: Episode IX is set for a rewrite, with THR reporting that British screenwriter Jack Thorne (Skins, Wonder) has signed on to pen a new draft of the script for the final chapter of the Sequel Trilogy.

According to the site, director Colin Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly have been hard at work on the screenplay, but it is felt that a fresh set of eyes is needed ahead of a planned production start date in January.

Thorne’s recent projects include the BBC’s upcoming adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, and Channel 4’s Philip K. Dick’s Electric Sheep.
