Star Wars Jedi: Survivor delayed by six weeks

February 1, 2023 by Olly Dyche

Sad news for Star Wars fans, as EA has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is sadly getting delayed. The sequel to the highly acclaimed Star Wars video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is getting a delay of approximately six weeks and is now set to release April 28th.

The game’s director Stig Amusen took to social media to release a statement, addressing the reasoning behind the game’s delay – to allow the team over at Respawn to focus on fully polishing it before the final release. The statement reads:

“For the last three years the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say that the next chapter in the tale of Cal Kestis is content complete. We are now focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to enhance performances, stability, polish and most importantly, the player experience.

Jedi Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making the game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.

In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule – Star War Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th.

Thanks to EA and Respawn for giving us the time to deliver the best experience for our players, and to all of you for your understanding”

Jedi: Fallen Order shocked gamers and Star Wars fans everywhere, as the hit video game delivered one of the best and most authentic Star Wars video game experiences of all time. Its compelling story, stunning visuals and immersive gameplay had fans instantly clambering for more. Thankfully, Fallen Order’s follow up Jedi: Survivor was announced last May, which promised to expand the story, evolve the gameplay and take players to some new Star Wars locales.

At first, Jedi: Fallen Order contained quite a few bugs that showed the game’s lack of polish, and as disappointing as Jedi: Survivor’s delay is, for EA and Respawn to hold the game back and focus on its polish is incredibly promising.

Set five years after its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor once again follows Cal Kestis and BD-1 as they attempt to stay one step ahead of the Empire as Cal continues to feel the weight of being one of the few last remaining Jedi in the galaxy.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release on April 28th.
