Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat adds Melissa Rauch, Jeffrey Wright, Robert Patrick and more

October 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in May it was announced that Meryl Streep (The Post), Antonio Banderas (Genius) and Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) are teaming with filmmaker Steven Soderbergh for The Laundromat, a drama based upon the Panama Papers scandal, and now we have word on six more additions to the cast.

Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory), Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Chris Parnell (30 Rock), James Cromwell (Halt and Catch Fire), Matthias Schoenaerts (Disorder), and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) have signed on to the film, which also stars David Schwimmer (Friends) and Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth). Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience) had previously been in talks but has had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts.

The film is based on Jake Bernstein’s book Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation of Illicit Money Networks and the Global Elite and is set to explore the scandal surrounding the Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca when documents leaked detailing the various investments by the wealthy and powerful designed to evade taxes.

Filming on The Laundromat is underway now, with Soderbergh directing from a script by Scott Z. Burns (Contagion).
