Supergirl adds Daniel DiMaggio as young Kal-El

January 20, 2016 by James Garcia

CBS’ Supergirl series has found a great way to highlight the exploits of its titular heroine while alluding to – but not hinging on – the existence of her more established cousin, Superman. While it will likely be some time before the Big Blue Boyscout arrives in his full glory on the series (if that ever happens), the writers have found a way to bring the fellow Kryptonian into the fold: by casting Daniel DiMaggio to play a young Kal-El.

DiMaggio (Tales of Halloween, A Tiger’s Tail) will debut as the future Superman in the show’s February 8th episode, “For The Girl Who Has Everything.” According to the episode description, Kal-El will appear in the series not via flashback, but inside a “dream world” that Kara is trapped in. You can read more on that below.

“For The Girl Who Has Everything” – Kara’s friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home planet was never destroyed. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Feb. 8
