SyFy gives Superman prequel show Krypton a series order

May 12, 2017 by Ricky Church

Though its known for being the doomed planet of Superman, Krypton lives on.

SyFy has decided to go ahead with giving the Superman prequel show a full series order. Though the exact number hasn’t been revealed, we can presumably expect the usual 20 -24 episodes for the show’s inaugural season.

Krypton will be executive produced by Man of Steel and The Dark Knight‘s David S. Goyer, who has also written the pilot with Ian Goldberg. A premiere date hasn’t been set, but it is expected to air this fall.

As part of the announcement, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment president Chris McCumber has said to expect some familiar faces from the DC universe within the show:

“What I can tell you is that there’ll certainly be other DC Comics characters in the Krypton world. That’s something I know that we’ve been taking to Warner Bros. about. I don’t want to give anything away about where things are headed, but I can tell you there will be other characters for sure.”

Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather–whose House of El was ostracized and shamed–as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
