Sylvester Stallone completes Creed 2 script, confirms Drago’s return

July 22, 2017 by Ricky Church

Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone has revealed through an Instagram post that he has completed a draft of his script for Creed 2, the sequel to 2015’s Rocky spin-off Creed, which followed Michael B. Jordan as Apollo Creed’s son Adonis. He also revealed, through the handwritten notes he showed off, that we’ll be seeing the return of Rocky IV’s Ivan Drago, the man who killed Apollo Creed in the ring.

We can presumably expect Dolph Lundgren to reprise the role of Drago, something Stallone and director Ryan Coogler have previously hinted at, as well as seeing Creed go up against one of Drago’s own children in the ring. Either way, it will be a very awkward and bitter meeting between the two fighters. Stallone said that his rough, handwritten script is 439 pages and will translate to around “a 120 page typed screenplay”.

A start date hasn’t been set for the film, but Creed 2 was previously delayed to make room for Coogler’s Marvel film, Black Panther, which also stars Jordan. Production on Creed 2 will likely begin soon after, giving time for Coogler and Stallone to finalise the screenplay.
