Taron Egerton addresses young Han Solo rumours

March 20, 2016 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago, it was reported that Disney and Lucasfilm have whittled down the 2500-strong contenders for the role of the young Han Solo in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology movie to just three candidates: Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service).

Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show alongside his Eddie the Eagle co-star Hugh Jackman, Egerton was asked about the rumours and claimed he’s had no contact about the role.

“I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that,” said Egerton. “It’s very, very flattering. I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am.”

Check out his response – and his Chewbacca impression – here…
