Tati Gabrielle set to join Mortal Kombat 2 as Jade

May 20, 2023 by EJ Moreno

What a joy it is to be a Mortal Kombat fan these days. Just days after the explosive trailer for the video game reboot Mortal Kombat 1 dropped, we’ve got an update on the upcoming cast for the Mortal Kombat movie sequel.

Today, the Hollywood Reporter broke the story that Tati Gabrielle is in final talks to join Mortal Kombat 2 as Jade. Simon McQuoid is back as director for this sequel, teaming with Jeremy Slater, who is writing the screenplay.

Tati Gabrielle is joining the returning cast, including Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, and Ludi Lin, as well as new additions like Karl Urban, who is set to join the film as the fan-favorite Johnny Cage. Gabrielle is best known for her time on the Netflix series You and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She also appeared opposite Tom Holland in 2022’s Uncharted.

Jade made her official series debut in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 as one of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn’s elite assassins. She appeared in various other games, including the 2009 reboot and Mortal Kombat 11. As for films, she was briefly featured in the 1997 film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Jade is best known for her striking looks, adorned in a sexy green outfit while carrying a staff to fight her foes. A fun fact for gamers: in her brief introduction in MKII, Jade was the only secret character to possess an outright special ability – an absolute immunity to projectile attacks.

Little is known about the story for this Mortal Kombat movie sequel, but fans are excited to see the much-teased fighting tournament actually begin during this outing.
