Ted renewed for second season at Peacock

May 10, 2024 by Ricky Church

The foul-mouthed teddy bear will return. Peacock announced it has renewed Seth McFarlane’s Ted for a second season.

Ted serves as a prequel to McFarlane’s 2012 comedy of the same name starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and McFarlane as the voice of Ted. Wahlberg’s John made a wish as a little boy to bring his teddy bear to life – a wish that ultimately came true. After becoming a worldwide sensation, John and Ted still live together as adults but barely have their lives in order, clinging to the past and their co-dependent relationship. Wahlberg and McFarlane returned for Ted 2 in 2015.

The Ted prequel series takes place in the 1990s during John’s teenage years. Ted’s 15 minutes of fame are over and they have to figure out what to do next. McFarlane once again voices Ted and serves as co-showrunner, writer, director and executive producer of the series. Alongside McFarlane are Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers with Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark and Aimee Carlson  as executive producers.

In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed,” the synopsis for the first season reads. “He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.

Ted stars Seth McFarlane, Max Burkholder, Scott Grimes, Alanna Ubach and Giogia Whigham.

Ted is available to stream on Peacock.
