Thandie Newton comments on her role in the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie

June 6, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Actress Thandie Newton has discussed her excitement and delight at being cast in the Han Solo Star Wars anthology movie.

Newton has had many big roles in the past, and has recently received praise for her performance in the hit HBO show Westworld.

But it’s her latest role that has gotten her the most excited, which she discussed in a recent Variety interview.

Newton explained that her casting director friend Nina Gold had never offered her a part in their 20 year relationship but that she finally got the call when Gold was casting for Star Wars.

“I just had these ideas of what it would be, you know, and it was completely different to everything I imagined and I’m so thrilled,” Newton said. “I’ve signed a non-disclosure and can’t say a word, which is frustrating because you know me. I like to chat it up.”

Newton also spoke about the importance of the series, saying, “It’s like you’re going through a portal that is beloved by all of humanity. To be part of a legacy like Star Wars, it’s loved for a reason.”
