The Division 2 Easter egg teases next Assassin’s Creed title?

April 6, 2019 by Patrick Nolan

The Assassin’s Creed franchise seems to have about as many leaks as a boat made out of cheese graters; Assassin’s Creed Origins, Syndicate, Rogue and Unity all leaked online before official announcements were made, often leaving us guessing whether new information comes from leaks or genuine teases Ubisoft gives us. Either way, players of The Division 2 have noticed the following suspicious looking poster that appears several times in the game:

As you will already be aware if you have partaken in the Assassin’s Creed games, the poster depicts a man holding a Piece of Eden under a title that says Valhalla. A Piece of Eden is a key plot device that repeatedly appears in the Assassin’s Creed series and Valhalla is the name of the real-world Norse afterlife. Putting this information together creates a fairly convincing tease for a future Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed game.

People first started creating a buzz due to a video posted by a Youtuber known as JorRaptor, while other gaming news sites such as Kotaku, allegedly have been provided with convincing information that led them to the same conclusions about where the next Assassin’s Creed game will be set.

So, at this point it seems fairly certain that we will be seeing ninth or tenth century Scandinavia in Ubisoft’s next addition to the third person action series. Unfortunately, these Vikings won’t make an appearance this year as Ubisoft have already announced that the next Assassin’s Creed game won’t be released until 2020.

Are you interested in Assassin’s Creed with Vikings? Would you prefer a different setting? Tell us in the comments below or on social media…
