The Flash to change showrunners for season 6

March 13, 2019 by Liam Waddington

The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing is stepping down at the end of the current fifth season, with Eric Wallace taking over as showrunner for the DC series.

Helbing, who served as the showrunner for the past two seasons, is stepping down to focus on development of other projects under his deal with Warner Bros. Television.

“From his first day on The Flash, Todd Helbing has been a leader on the show, beloved by the cast and crew for his exceptional talent, vision and wonderful attitude,” The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti stated. “We are all sad to see him go, but we will all be better for the many shows he will no doubt create and run in the future.”

Wallace joined The Flash in season 4 as a co-executive producer and recently served as executive producer alongside Helbing for season 5. Wallace will now be promoted to sole showrunner for the series beginning with season 6. His credits also include Teen Wolf, Z-Nation and Eureka.

This showrunner change on The Flash comes days after the announcement that Arrow will be coming to an end with a final 10-episode eight season.
