The Haunting of Bly Manor is “definitely” coming out in 2020 says creator

July 16, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Mike Flanagan, the creator of The Haunting of Bly Manor, says the series is definitely debuting in 2020.

The Haunting of Hill House was a big hit for Netflix and while the horror series isn’t getting a direct sequel, it’s creator Mike Flanagan is making a spiritual successor called The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The series is also a Netflix original and will include some of the same actors as the original series. Bly Manor has been slated to arrive in 2020 and Flanagan has now reiterated to CinemaBlend that it will definitely debut on time, not being impacted by the Hollywood lockdown:

“I don’t expect it to be delayed one bit. We didn’t really miss a step, believe it or not. We had already wrapped before the whole COVID shutdown hit all the productions. We had a couple of weeks where we had to kind of figure out how to continue post remotely. But my post team also, you know, where I’ve been with now, my whole career, they cracked it real fast and we’ve been doing everything on these virtual sessions.

“I think Netflix, they haven’t announced when it’s coming out. They’ve got their own plan. But we’ve been jamming through post. It’s been going great. It’s definitely later this year. It’s not going to get kicked off into 2021, or anything. Everything’s on schedule.“

That’s certainly good news and you can’t blame fans for worrying about the series right now with everything that is going on, even if Flanagan has assured fans in the past that things were on schedule.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is still scheduled to air on Netflix in 2020 and features a cast that includes Hill House returnees Kate Siegel, Catherine Parker, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Victoria Pedretti along with T’Nia Miller (Years and Years), Amelia Eve (Big Boys Don’t Cry), Amelie Smith (EastEnders), Benjamin Ainsworth (Flora and Ulysses) and Rahul Kohli (iZombie).
