The Jurassic League movie reportedly in the works at DC and Warner Bros. Animation

February 29, 2024 by Gary Collinson

James Gunn and DC Studios are reportedly set to explore a prehistoric version of the DC Universe with  TheInSneider reporting that an animated movie adaptation of the 2022 comic book limited series The Jurassic League is in the works from DC and Warner Bros. Animation.

Created by Daniel Warren Johnson and Juan Gedeon, the six part comic series took place on an alternate Earth populated by anthropomorphic dinosaur incarnations of the Justice League and the various superheroes and supervillains of the DC Universe, including an Allosaurus Batman, Brachiosaurus Superman and Triceratops Wonder Woman.

The animated movie is reportedly being scripted by Brian Lynch (The Secret Life of Pets), with DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran producing. Further details are being kept under wraps, but the official description for the comic series reads:

You know the story: an infant escapes the destruction of its home planet and is deposited on Earth to be raised by human parents. A goddess from a lost city defends truth. A Theropod dons the visage of a bat to strike fear into evildoers’ hearts. This heroic trinity, alongside a league of other super-powered dinosaurs, join forces to save a prehistoric Earth from the sinister machinations of Darkseid. Wait…what? Okay, maybe you don’t know the story. So join us and bear witness to a brand-new—yet older than time—adventure and experience the Justice League as you have never seen them before!
